Post-Processing Guide

Essential steps to finish your cosplay prints for convention-ready results.

Resin Post-Processing

1. Support Removal

Carefully break away supports using pliers. Wear gloves to protect from sharp edges.

2. Cleaning

Wash in isopropyl alcohol (IPA) bath to remove uncured resin. 90%+ IPA recommended.

3. Curing

Use UV curing chamber or sunlight for final curing. 30-60 minutes depending on thickness.

4. Sanding

Start with 400 grit, progress to 2000+ for smooth finish. Use wet sanding technique.

FDM Post-Processing

1. Support Removal

Remove supports carefully. Use flush cutters for precision, then sand smooth.

2. Surface Smoothing

Sand with increasing grits. For ABS, consider acetone vapor smoothing for glass finish.

3. Assembly

Use epoxy, super glue, or mechanical fasteners. Test fit before permanent assembly.

4. Priming

Apply automotive primer for best paint adhesion. Sand between coats for smooth finish.

Finishing Tips

Painting Techniques

Cosplay Printing FAQ

Common questions about our cosplay and prop printing services.

Tough Resin is ideal for cosplay armor as it's durable, impact-resistant, and captures fine details. For larger pieces or budget considerations, PETG or ABS FDM prints work well and can be smoothed for a better finish.
